Glucose oxidase induced granulomatous lung disease.

چکیده
ranulomatous diseases of the lung are known to have many etiologies, among which have been the association with numerous organic antigens, usually containing and presumably derived from a wide variety of animal or fungal substances. Their clinical, p&hologic, radiologic, and immunologic features have been the subiect of several recent reviews.'" The various proposed etiologies have been enumerated by Williams.5 Although an exact etiology has not been established, an allergic reaction to some fungus or fungus antigen in the organic material to which these people are exposed has received the most attention. Precipitins to various fungal agents have been demonstrated; often more than one antibody-antigen serum reaction is noted, thus complicating the &ologic picture. We are reporting a patient who worked in close contact with one purified protein extract of the fungus Aspergillus niger, who developed a granulomatous pulmonary disease that in many ways resembles farmer's lung. Osteomyelitis and lung abscess due to Aspergillus fumigatus in a chronic granulomatous disease patient
Background and Purpose: Chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) is an inherited disorder of the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) oxidase complex. This disorder results in recurrent life-threatening bacterial and fungal infections. Aspergillus species are the most common fungal infections in these patients. Case Report: Herein, we present a case of fungal infection in a girl wi...
متن کاملTherapeutic effects of proteoliposomes on X-linked chronic granulomatous disease: proof of concept using macrophages differentiated from patient-specific induced pluripotent stem cells
Chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) is a rare inherited immunodeficiency due to dysfunction of the phagocytic nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) oxidase complex leading to severe and recurrent infections in early childhood. The main genetic form is the X-linked CGD leading to the absence of cytochrome b558 composed of NOX2 and p22 phox , the membrane partners of the NADPH oxida...
متن کاملAcid aspiration-induced lung inflammation and injury are exacerbated in NADPH oxidase-deficient mice.
Increased reactive oxidant intermediates (ROIs) from primed leukocytes have been implicated in the pathogenesis of acid aspiration lung injury. To evaluate the specific role of the phagocyte NADPH oxidase-derived ROIs in acid lung injury, the p47phox-/- knockout mouse model of chronic granulomatous disease was used. p47phox-/- mice developed a significantly greater alveolar neutrophilic leukocy...
متن کاملResidual NADPH Oxidase Activity and Isolated Lung Involvement in X-Linked Chronic Granulomatous Disease
Chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) is characterized by inherited immune defects resulting from mutations in the NADPH oxidase complex genes. The X-linked type of CGD is caused by defects in the CYBB gene that encodes gp91-phox, a fundamental component of the NADPH oxidase complex. This mutation originates the most common and severe form of CGD, which typically has absence of NADPH oxidase func...
متن کاملDeficiency in immune complex uptake by chronic granulomatous disease neutrophils.
Receptor-mediated binding and endocytosis by normal and chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) polymorphonuclear (PMN) leucocytes have been investigated. Our results suggest that activation of the respiratory burst is a requisite for normal immune complex internalization. Cell-associated immune complexes were detected by fluorescence microscopy, electron microscopy and flow cytometric techniques. ...
